Job description:

This position is responsible for directing all sustaining engineering activities and setting new product development direction of product line in coordination with the Sales, Marketing and the rest of the organization.
This position will interface with internal departmental customers, dealers, sales, and external customers/
dealers to clearly understand the “Voice of Customer” needs and then to propose cost effects, high quality
solutions to those needs. This Chief Engineer position will provide leadership and direction to ensure that all design development in cost effective and high quality, meeting all government regulations.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•           Manage team members and provide leadership for multiple engineers and/or team members
•           Manage multiple projects to ensure quality, cost and delivery are in line with expectations of management
•           Ensure best in class product design
•           Provide accurate and thorough project analysis
•           Ensure product testing validation
•           Ensure designs supports safe, high quality and cost-effective assembly / manufacturing processes
•           Identifies/provides team members with opportunities for career/professional development
•           Investigates and provides solutions for highly complex problems where intricate analysis of situations or data is required
•           Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
•           Ensure team provides an accurate final design in the form of a BOM, material cost roll-up, part drawings and assembly drawings.
•           Oversee the management policies and tools that control all engineering documents and standards
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
•           Advanced knowledge and understanding of technical requirements associated with area of work/expertise and how it relates to the final product/process
•           Advanced understanding of new design and manufacturing technologies, and market research
•           Expert understanding of one or more of the following: power systems, electrical controls, hydraulic systems, mechanical structures, FEA
•           Thorough understating of business financials
•           Ability to facilitate, lead and/or manage performance of professional, trade, and technical employees
•           Can troubleshoot and brainstorm with technical and non-technical teams (e.g. mechanical and marketing professionals on product enchantments)
•           Identifies with marketing, sales, project terms, design, R&D, and/or manufacturing managers, and other internal or external customers
•           Collaborates extensively with key product development personnel
•           BS Degree in engineering, and 8+ years related experience, including 3+ years in a management role, or Master’s Degree, and 7+ years related experience, including 3+ years in a staff management role
