Job description:

Position Description: Project Managers support Senior Project Managers on mechanical construction projects.  The position carries the responsibility to ensure that the project is completed effectively within cost, schedule, quality and safety parameters.
Job Duties:
Review job estimates and prepare project budgets
Estimate and negotiate change orders
Track, forecast, report labor hours and material costs
Expedite and track deliveries of major equipment/materials
Maintain working knowledge of general conditions, work scope and specifications of project contract/subcontract
Maintain and control documents in compliance with policies, as well as contractual compliance
Assist Senior Project Manager in supervising Project Engineers, Superintendents and, if applicable, Foremen
Collaborate with field labor supervision to plan, organize and schedule project work, including preparation of subcontract/contract integrated project schedule
Collaborate with the design team on design-build projects
Review contract drawings, detail drawings and specifications
Prepare fabrication shop work package including detail drawing review, material take off and man-hour fabrication budget
Ensure full compliance with company safety program at the jobsite
Provide proactive, clear and timely communication to team members
Be professional and uphold company values

Knowledge of how to read and comprehend blueprints/drawings
Must be able to work effectively as a member of a team
Ability to accurately estimate mechanical work
Ability to understand and communicate basic mechanical concepts
Advanced organizational and time management skills
Strong written and oral communication skills to communicate at all levels
Strong work ethic - results driven
Thorough understanding of work rules contained in Collective Bargaining Agreements
Ability to multi-task job responsibilities
Advanced computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Project, Access, and AutoCAD
Education and Experience:
Construction Management or Construction, Mechanical, Civil or General Engineering degree preferred
2 Years of experience in the mechanical contracting industry
Work Environment:
Must be able to work in high pressure situations facing strict deadlines. This is not an 8-5 job, as long hours are sometimes a requirement to meet deadlines
Must be familiar with job site safety requirements and be prepared to wear a hard hat, work boots and goggles at potentially dangerous job sites
Hours will often exceed 40 hours per week to effectively perform this position
Leadership and oversight responsibilities require consistent work start times and work weeks

Work on construction sites will typically have more challenging access and terrain
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Assist Senior Project Manager in supervising Project Engineers, Superintendents and, if applicable, Foremen
Report to the Senior Project Manager for performance reviews and mentoring

Bottom Line Requirements:

1.  Construction Management or Construction, Mechanical, Civil or General Engineering degree preferred.
2.  2+ years of project management experience in the mechanical contracting industry.
3.  Local and with experience in the Twin Cities area.
